Our Industry

Rapid global economic growth has put an enormous stress on the energy industry and the environment. Current technologies do not satisfy the growing demand for energy in a sustainable way. On the other hand, the strive of billions of people to be lifted out of poverty and the worldwide rise in standards of living make it important to maintain the current rate of economic development. The dilemma between global demand for energy and sustainable development has created a growing market for solutions that can modernize the existing infrastructure to minimizing the environmental impact, whilst maintaining a relatively low price of conventional energy and materials.

Power Generation

Today one third of the world's electricity is derived from coal. According to the International Energy Agency, coal's consumption is expected to rise by 48% within the next twenty years. With over 50,000 coal-fired power stations worldwide and 200 Gigawatts (equivalent to the entire coal-fired installed base of Europe) of annual increase in production, power demand for engineering expertise in emission reduction and operational optimization is extremely high. In addition, measures to monetize carbon emissions and rising prices for fuel have created strong incentives for the producers of power to boost efficiency and reduce emissions. LP Amina is an innovator in coal-fired power generation developing solutions to support a sustainable energy industry.

Chemical Industry

For most of the 20th century, crude oil has been the major feedstock for the chemical industry due to its lower price and versatility. However, because of its limited availability and rapidly increasing price, new raw materials base is needed to insure the stability and growth of the industry. The change in raw materials in the chemical industry signifies not only a conversion from oil to renewable raw materials but also to gas and coal. The important factors in the selection of raw materials are based upon availability, sustainability, comparative price and efficient conversion technologies. This shift in raw material feedstock will transform the current chemical industry and require a wide range of solutions and technologies not currently available. LP Amina is one of the early participants in this field of developing new feedstocks for the Chemical Industry in an environmentally sustainable manner. By providing innovative conversion technologies, we are supporting a smooth transition from the petroleum-based infrastructure.
